Commercial Pilot License (CPL) & Instrument Rating

Commercial Pilot License (CPL)

The Commercial Pilot License (CPL) program is designed for those aspiring to build a career in aviation. This in-depth course offers advanced flight training, instrument flying, and equips you with the skills necessary for commercial piloting. Graduates are qualified to obtain a CPL and can work as commercial pilots.

Eligibility/Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Educational Qualification: Must have completed Class Twelve or an equivalent exam with Physics and Mathematics.
  • Medical Fitness: Must hold a Class 1 Medical Certificate

Note: While initial flying training can begin after completing Class Ten, CPL exams and course completion require a Class 12 education.

Examinations:

Candidates must pass the following exams to qualify for a CPL:

  • Air Navigation
  • Technical General
  • Aircraft Meteorology
  • Air Regulation
  • RTR(A) (Radio Telephony Restricted – Aero)
  • Technical Specific (either CESSNA 172 / Tecnam P2008JC)

Flying Requirements:

  • Total flight hours: 200
  • Pilot-in-command (PIC) hours: 100
  • Cross-country hours as PIC: 50
  • Instrument time on aircraft: 20 hours
  • Instrument time in a simulator: 20 hours
  • Night flying as PIC: 5 hours

Skill Test:

Candidates are required to successfully complete the following tests:

  • General flying test during the day
  • General flying test during the night
  • Cross-country flight test during the day over a distance of 250 nautical miles
  • Cross-country flight test at night over a distance of 120 nautical miles
  • Instrument Rating test
